Philomena Bake Shop is a gluten-free, vegan bakery with a strong wholesale presence and a growing retail storefront in Slavic Village. We are growing across both retail and wholesale—and you could be the difference-maker in our next chapter.

We are a small team of great people running a high volume kitchen. A new person joining us should be energetic, reliable (showing up is important), understands that work in a food business is often physically demanding and messy, and enjoys crossing items off a list.

  • Philomena Bake Shop is a fully gluten-free and vegan bakery in Cleveland's Slavic Village neighborhood. We make food that lets everyone gather around the same table — and we take that work seriously. As we grow our cake program, we're looking for a skilled baker and decorator who can do both: produce beautiful, consistent cakes from scratch and finish them with clean, simple piping work.

    What You'll Be Doing

    • Baking and producing cakes, fillings, and frostings from scratch in a high-quality, from-scratch environment

    • Decorating finished cakes for our retail case and wholesale accounts

    • Executing clean, consistent buttercream finishes and simple piping techniques across production runs

    • Maintaining an organized, efficient cake station

    • Upholding strict gluten-free and vegan protocols at all times

    • Supporting the broader kitchen team as needed

    What We're Looking For

    • Professional baking experience required — you know your way around a scratch kitchen

    • A team player — someone who brings a positive attitude to their job and supports the bigger mission when needed. A strong team makes all the difference and is the reason Philomena Bake Shop is a great place to work.

    • Solid decorating fundamentals: clean finishes, consistent piping, production-level speed. No fondant or custom cake experience necessary — our decorating needs are intentionally straightforward

    • Ability to replicate designs consistently across a batch

    • Reliable, detail-oriented, and genuinely invested in the quality of your work

    • Experience with gluten-free or vegan baking is a strong plus — we'll train the right person on our recipes and protocols

    This isn't a custom cake shop. You won't be sculpting fondant figures or hand-painting portraits. What you will be doing is producing beautiful, delicious, and consistent work in a bakery that people depend on — customers who often can't eat anywhere else.

    • Full-time position, Tuesdays to Saturdays

    • Located at 5324 Fleet Avenue, Cleveland, OH (Slavic Village)

    • Compensation commensurate with experience
